Upper West Side townhouse received a new front façade entry stairs and areaway as part of a restoration strategy designed by MAD. Careful historic research and documentation was approved by the Landmarks Preservation Commission and now the completed project now reflects the original aesthetic and architectural language of the 1889 renaissance revival rowhouse. This proposal was particularly challenging since during previous modifications by other owners, the parlor floor elevation had been raised and made the new exterior stairs longer than the original ones. A new vestibule and entry doors at the top pf the stairs now elegantly face West 75 street, contributing to the landmarked block.
