Queens Community House (QCH) is a multi-site, multi-service non-profit that serves many diverse Queens neighborhoods. Their core programs are housed at the Forest Hills Community Center located at the center of the Kew Gardens neighborhood in a building that is outdated and in need of redefinition. Initializing a redesign of the 19,000sf ( + 7,000sf access/garden) center, MAD developed the building which will receive an improved layout complemented by new infrastructure, an ADA elevator and complete upgrades to its exterior envelope and surrounding areas.

New exterior elements and revised building openings will now allow the organization’s mission to be more deliberately visible with iconic features that have been proposed as part of the complete renovation. Previously grated facades have been converted into neighborhood beacons with new windows promoting color and light. The renovated center invites the entire community to enjoy its vast number of programs that provide resources to support the community’s housing, health, employment, education, and well-being. Work is currently finalizing Phase Two of construction and slated for completion in Spring 2024.
