Tishman Auditorium is located on the ground level of Vanderbilt Hall, housing NYU’s School of Law. In 2019, the existing auditorium was determined to be outdated and in need of a complete renovation. The Law School's leadership set forth multiple goals including the need for improved audience sightlines, ADA accessibility and an overhauling of all AV/IT systems, in addition to seating and finishes.
The design team worked diligently on the stage’s relationship to the audience while adjusting the wings and improving acoustics, lighting and AV strategies. A new seating layout, and revised overall design provided updated finishes that were carefully selected to improve the experience of the 425-person audience. ADA compliance at stage and new vestibules and stair access to the control room were also part of the scope.
